About OC Organizing Crew (OCOCO)

OC Organizing Crew’s (OCOC) mission is to flip Red seats Blue in Orange County. OCOC is the organizing arm of WeLead OC, a PAC, (“WE” --- an acronym for “Women Empowered) is dedicated to empowering Progressive Democratic women in Orange County by engaging and educating through training an organizing. WELead OC's mission is to build a backbench of Progressive Democratic women candidates, women campaign professionals and activists, thereby increasing the number of elected Progressive Democratic women in our County. 


OCOC helps organize, train, support, and inform Progressive and Democratic grassroots, organizations, and Democratic clubs through research, voter registration training, voter registration drives, organized forums and events, social media trainings, polling, and canvassing.

One month after the November 2016 upending election Orange County activists mobilized and did so in great numbers. Over the course of the last year, OCOC has held 15 Voter Registration and Engagement trainings for local groups and organizations in Orange County; built a large Voter Registration Program; founded the 48th Action Council; Co-Sponsored a county-wide training event with Western Organizing Workshop (WOW) and was a Co-Sponsor of the Newport Dunes Candidate Forum with more than 800 participants.

OCOC is wholly volunteer.

Cate, a life-long resident of Orange County, is a volunteer Community Organizer in 48th CD. Following the disaster that was the November 2016 election, Cate was determined to ensure the 2018 elections would be the Election of Change. She is the Founder and Board member of the OC Organizing Crew, she is Chair of Voter Outreach for the Newport Beach Women's Democratic Club, the Administrator for Together We Will OC, HB a founding member of the HB Huddle Elections Team, Member of Imagine Action and former 48th District Representative for Code Blue.

Cate's day job is a Saddleback College Adjunct Professor of English. Courses include Argument, Critical Reasoning and Writing, First-year writing, Developmental Writing.

Cate, together with OCOC, is currently organizing large scale canvassing across the 48th CD.

Faye Hezar - Co-Founder OCOC, Steering Committee Member - Imagine Action OC

Faye was born in Iran, arriving in the United States at 17 as a pre-med student. She received her Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, all while raising her two daughters.

Faye was also devastated by the November 2016 elections. Immediately following, she started organizing in Orange County grassroots organizations and activists to educate and engage community members.


She serves on the steering committee of Imagine Action OC (IAOC) which was formed in Jan 2017. She has organized voter registration training classes throughout Orange County, connected with multiple Democratic Clubs and Activists' organizations, an Advisory member of Candidate Forum 48th CD, original and organizing member of 48th CD Action Council and was one of 3 in organizing the Western Organizing Workshop (WOW) December 2017 training event.
